its always to moderately sunny in arizona

So sorry y'all been slacking on making blog posts for a while now, yup, been blowing it. but yeah, just getting back break and the glorious land called minnesota. i'll do my best to summarize the events using reference pictures. it was a good 'ol buck time

This is a picture taken at one of my best-est homies kevin horn's skate video premiere. But on the real the past 4 years of my life was really leading up to that night, i mean all of the best homies in one place watching my good friends skate. It was a night to remember, or not as the case might be. the island was accommodating to say the least.

A lot of my time during break was also spent at the "fun house" occupied by the "fun boys" (tyler ryan (left in the picture), dom randazzo, kyle dykstra, and joe clarke). Spent my new years there, and to say the least it was balls to walls. it was pretty fun. Also picture in this picture is kevin chartrand, one of the largest contributors to "the hesh" ( http://thehesh.com/ ), and a resident of the "white bump" along with tim fultron, trevor anderson, and davis, kind of. But anywho, spent many a night there including my last. Its a good place, mad hyphy to da max. But yeah, mad shout outs to all dem minnesota homies, keep it real.

So yeah, wish i could i make a paragraph giving shout outs to everyone, but there's a guap. so yeah, fuck it. hats to minnesota, ill be back in the future. until then, i return to the hood of tempe arizona.

So as i draw to a close america ain't it strange how everyone says they love you (not emo, but a dr dog refrence) actually y'all should hit up the song ain't it strange by dr dog.

and to finish it off a picture of basti:

Best week ever feat. Hani Shamat

So this week, three of the best people i have ever known came to visit me in Arizona. Kevin Horn, Sebatian Zeck, and Peter Edge came. So far its been nothing but non stop epicness and fun. This picture was taken on our second night here. We met up with our mutual friend Michelle who goes to ASU as well, shes tight. Anywho we all sat around and chatted and conversed, it was boss. Basically ive been having the time of my life with these dudes.

One of the downsides to having all of these dudes here is the sleeping arrangement. its like a can of sardines, there is quite literally no room floor, and i wouldn't have it any other way, every night is entertaining. Arizona has been popping off hard with these dudes here. Its been too perfect, love these dudes.

Like always i gotta interview one of my homies, this week it is my homies hani shamat, dude is really really real. luckily for me i got to pop him a few questions the other day.

So lets get formalities out of the way what is your name, and where are you from?
Hani “50 Cent” Jackson
and I’m from Compton, MN (st. paul)

So now you’re a cheese head, how you liking it so far?
im likin it. people are super nice and the city (Appleton) is pretty cool. I went skating one day at 9 AM and met a bum in a park, sat down with him for an hour and he gave me a beer and we talked about his problems with women. No joke, he lived in the woods by the park. But even though I moved to Wisconsin, im not a packers fan…in fact, I still hate football just as much as I always have.

So I happened to have skateboarded with you for a long time, so I love skating with you so let me question you, would you rather skate the park by your house, or a cement skate plaza and explain why?

Well…the park by my house sucks….and a cement plaza would be perfect…….but I totally did my first back tail at the park, so im going to have to skate there.

Battle front one or two, and why?
1 no question. It was fun. They tried too damn hard in battlefront 2. with 1 there was just explosions everywhere and crazy shit happening all the time...better maps, and bigger explosions. 2 was shit…except I like space battles.

Who is the baddest ass mofucka in star wars?
so hard. Mace windu just cause he’s Samuel L jacskon. I HAVE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERFUCKIN BANTHAS ON THIS MOTHERFUCKIN DEATHSTAR. Uhhhh I gotta go with vader. Nobody beats vader.

Whats shoes have you worn for the longest time and what were they?
hmmm…DVSessses. I really like dvsesess. I don’t remember what shoe specifically though. I make all my shit last. My shoes right now are on like month 4.

Whats the best shittiest, most hyphy rap you’ve listened to?
Oh man…Yung Joc- hear me comin
Orrrr GUCCI MANE – EVERYBODY KNOW ME!

If I handed you a nintedo 64, and one game, what game would you choose?
ROAD RASH 64!!!!

After living and skating in the twin cities for as long as I’ve known you, you still don’t know how to get to government plaza, how did this happen?
I mean, you’d totally think I didn’t intern there for a month or something…

Hani, you are true motherfucking g, you’ve kept it more real than anyone else I know. You do your own thing every day, so where does hani shamat see himself in ten years?
in ur mom.

No but seriously, fuckin bitches, gettin money.

So Hani, that interview was one of the funnier ones i've read, it was epic. So as we come to an end, SHOUT OUT TO BRIAN FITZPATRICK FOR KEEPING IT REAL IN IRELAND. Also everyone should listen to the album funeral by the arcade fire, kinda of a oldie, but re listened to it the other day, and it is perfect, so give it a listen. And all the people out there reading keep the bitch out of your blood, peace out.

Peter Edge really wanted to skate, skateboarding said let me into your world. Peter relpied i don't have the tiiiiiiime

So me and my friend max kratzke started up an old favorite thing from minnesota. We started the asu chapter of wednesday night riders. So basically we go around and get hyphy on bikes, and stop and playgrounds, and get even more hyphy. This picture was taken at one of the parks we stopped at. Its a fun time, and i highly encourage everyone to go out biking, well, cause its super fun.

So many of you may know im an avid thrift store shopper, so in my travels i came across this little gem. I didn't buy it cause come on, its doug mientkiewitcz, but it is funny none the less. So this works perfectly into how the twins just made it into the playoffs. Back when this dude played i was a highly impressionable 12 year old, and when they lost in the playoffs, it quite literally made me cry. so moral is twin, don't fuck it up this year, little kids love you guys.
Also what the hell is this shirt doing in a arizona goodwill?????

So this is Peter Edge, one of my favorite people ever, and i was lucky enough to catch up with him for a few questions:

1) So time for the formalities, even though for a two-month period I spent more time at your house then my own. What is your name, and where are you from/living?

My name is Peter Edge. I live in Saint Paul Minnesota

2) Out of the pokemon series for gameboy, which is your favorite series: a) blue red yellow b) gold silver crystal c) sapphire ruby emerald d) fire red leaf green e) pearl diamond. And why is that the best iteration of pokemon games?

Gold and Silver for sure! They're the best because there are twice as many gyms as the other games. And I remember them way better than the first two.

3) What channel provided the best Saturday morning cartoon lineup?

We argued this one for a while didn't we. I was a die-hard “kidsWB”er and you were a “fox kids”er. Whatever floats your boat, all I'll say is that kidsWB had Jackie Chan's only ever cartoon show. Damn, where did all the good cartoons go.

4) Favorite stencil you’ve made?

I would say the Sig one, but that was a remake of an old stencil. Ill go with the one of Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid. One of my favorite movies, and it took forever to cut it out.

5) All right, so you get more rocked than anyone else I know, worst fall you’ve ever taken?

Well, I've had 3 broken arms, but those were more of an inconvenience than anything else. The fall that scared me the most was when I hit my head at the Salvation Army banks. That's the one in New Flavors promo #3. I stayed off the board for a couple days after that one. I was actually scared to ride after that, that bump on my head stayed for like a month.

6) Favorite spot to chill along the Mississippi?

I don't know. Anywhere near the monument, I suppose.

7) Wednesday night riders, good thing or hassle?

I have really mixed feelings about Wednesday night riders. I've had good experiences as well as bad (falling off my bike on Ford Parkway). But it was fun while it lasted

8) Peter, I learn things about you that I never knew about everyday, so whats one interesting thing that I don’t know about you?

You might know this already. When I was 3 years old or so, I was chewing on a foot long lego piece and crawling on a bench. I fell off the bench and the lego piece jammed up my throat and pierced through the back wall of my throat. It was really gnarly and my parents were scared for my life. Actually, I suppose this was the worst fall I've ever taken, haha

9) How hyped are you for where the wild things are?

SO HYPED. And I am even more hyped that we are going to watch it opening night with you in ARIZONA! This trip is gonna be so sick. I'm so excited.

10) So peter, mad love, one of the realest people I know, any last comments, or shout outs you would like to throw out. And where do you see yourself in ten years?

In ten years I see myself in medical school at the U of M. Hopefully I am still skateboarding and slappying curbs and whatnot (note to ourselves: learn slappys while in Arizona). Shout outs to you, Kevin, Basti, Jeremy, Rayshaun, everyone else in the video, Conrad, Mark, Chris, Nicole and all of her good friends (This summer was really fun), and my family. Thanks to Kevin for letting me be in his video, I am so hyped to see New Flavors premier in December. To all the kiddies reading this: buy Kevin's video. Haha thats it, I'm out.

Peace Sig--- I'll see you in 4 days.

So it has come to that time where i gotta say peace out. I would highly recommend listening to Kid Cudi, nah just playin, fuck that, but forreal listen to the song "seer" by the brian's Jonestown massacre. America remember take out your bling and dress to impress.

Attempting to snatch the the cat back feat. BASTI feat. sig

This a picture of a pool party from a little bit ago, i can safely say this was the coolest party i've been to that started before 3 in the afternoon. I jumped off a roof into a pool, it was pure bliss. some girl tried to jump off of the same roof onto to a wake board and ate shit and that was funny. Also someone started playing bob dylan "hurricane" at this party, and i started singing loudly, and no one else knew the words, so i was the only one. good times.

This is photo of my homie eric at the life sciences building. Its one of the tightest spots around and its a jont away from where i live, so many sesh go down on this thing. One time we went there and seriously like 15 bmxers were there and got the cops called on us, no good. but anyway, lots to skate down here, couldn't be happier.

So here it is, one of my good friends Sebastian "BASTI" Zeck agreed to anwser some stupid ass question i asked him.

1) Lets get formalities outta the way, even though your basically family, what is your name, and where are you residin’?
I'm Sebastian Zeck, and i live in Saint paul, minnesota.
2) True or False, you own a fixed gear bike
True...
3) If you were a smurf, what would be your smurf name, ex. smart smurf
A smurf? I wouldn't. what would your smurf name be, sig?
4) As the little international travler you are, what foreign country are you the most hyped on?
Probably Germany, my family lives there and i'm always excited to go back. i've been there so much it's like a second home.
5) Out of all of the videogames you’ve played with me, which one is your favorite?
Probably grand theft auto, or maybe that Resident evil five demo we played. that was intense. Was it resident evil? I do agree with kevin though, i just don't understand metal gear solid.
6) I totes forgot that you ski, but you do, how is that gooing for you?
It is going well, i guess. It's a lot of work and it's pretty time consuming, but i like it enough to keep doing it.
7) Dude, are you down to go golfing sometime, cause going to driving range was soooooo fun.
Of course i'm down to go golfing again. That was super fun. That was one of your last days in saint paul, wasnt it? what a great time.
8) Savers on lake or good will on snelling?
Isn't goodwill on university? but i'd say savers. We always have better luck when we go to savers.
9) So me and you have gotten into some absolutely ridiculous situations, which one is your favorite?
Ah sig, i'd have to think about this one longer. This past summer pretty much sums everything up. The countless bike rides and swimming rank pretty high. Going to Mickey's on the night before you left and seeing "Leader of the Pack" on the jukebox made that night incredible.
10) Basti, you’ve kept it mad real since I met you in sapinsh that one day, continue to keep it real. So as the final reflective question, where do you see yourself in ten years?
his is a hard question. In ten years i'll be twenty seven...hopefully i'll have a job i like and everything, and still be able to travel whenever. I'm promising that we'll still be friends in ten years. Big ups, Sig. Wub 4eva. I'll be counting down the days until I see you again.

Now it's your turn:
1) Alright, even though this is your blog, let everyone know exactly who you are, where you're from, and where you're living.
I'm from st. paul minnesota, and i decided it was a good idea to move arizona for some reason
2) What are you doing in Arizona?
I'm learning how to program computers/get buck wild
3) Where would i find Sig on a Friday night, eleven o'clock?
You can find me in the club, with a bottle full of bub
4) When you aren't skating or playing video games, what do you do?
Attempting and failing at picking up girls
5) Favorite fruit/vegetable:
If you count orange juice, orange juice
6) Do you still have your casper flips?
Yes i do, and i will continue to baffle anyone who plays me in skate with them
7) You've got six dollars in your pocket, what do you spend it on?
food from super america, take 2.35 of that and get a fountain drink with two doughnuts, then save the rest for a rainy day, that rainy day being when a new video game comes out.
8) Sig, where do you see yourself in seven years?
In Japan, working for square enix making the next great rpg, while skateboarding for blueprint, and a girlfriend that takes photos or some artsy bullshit like that for a living
9) Thank you for your time, Sig. It's always a pleasure. Any shout outs? shout out to all of the minnesota homies, expecially, you (Basti), peter edge, and kevin horn, cannot wait for you to be here. shout out to ash ketchem, for trying to catch them all (pokemon) for the past decade. Mad love to han solo for keeping it real in star wars. FInally props to the writers of futurama, only good animated show on anymore.

So where would you rather be this week? just throwing it out there.

WHY SKATEBOARDING HAS CONSUMED MY LIFE FEAT. KEVIN HORN

so i have decided to take a break from reporting on my stupid daily activities and cheap beer (sorry daniel), to bring a special report to you on skateboarding, and one of, if not the best friend i have, kevin horn.

So here the first "skate photo" of Arizona. This is my homies deven, danny, and marlin eyeing the "walmart" ledge. this ledge i fairly famous, bu
t then again, i do know more about the AZ skate scene then the average bear. but anywho, this spot is sick, the notion that anyone has skated this is insane, this ledge is soooper hard to skate, but anywho it pretty tight, and i would suggest skating it if you're in the hood.

So this picture is that of two people that I consider family, Kevin Horn and Sebastian Zeck. Kevin Horn is one of the tightest homies I have. he has filmed us since as long as i can remember, and he is finally getting the recognition he deserves with his up coming flick "New Flavors". I got a chance to interview him, even though i talk to this kook everyday, it was still awesome to talk to him, so check it out:

1) So lets get formalities out of the way, lets pretend I don’t know you, but we both know that aint true, any who: what is your name, where are you from, and what are you hyped about in the general world at the moment?

My name is Kevin Horn. I am from Saint Paul, Minnesota, and I am currently hyped on finishing my video.

2) So according to contents of my hard drive, this video you’re making, new flavors, I do believe it has something to do with skateboarding is almost done, what are your feelings about the video?

I am super excited for it to be finished. I've been working on it for about two years now, and as fun as it has been, I'm ready to be done. I'm really proud of all the guys who have been filming parts for New Flavors. The amount of progression I've seen from everybody is incredible.

3) Using your film student skills, can you explain to me why the movie “cloverfield” sucks, feel free to disagree too.
Haha, this is kind of embarrassing. I haven't seen "Cloverfield" but I think I know why you don't like it. The whole movie is hand held, which is kind of ridiculous but it's good to try new things I suppose. Now I know to never shoot an entire movie hand held.

4) If your life was a mirror image of the show “Seinfeld” and you were jerry, what real life people would be George, Kramer, and Elaine.

You would be George, Peter would Kramer, and Basti would be Elaine because I really don't have a female friend who we all hang out with everyday.

5) On dec. 21 2012m the Mayan apocalypse but of course, where will I be able to find you.

You will find me at the 24 hour Girl Talk concert, probably naked.

6) What video game do you frown upon me the most for playing?
Metal Gear Solid. I don't fucking understand why you like it so much, or video games in general. Hahaha. But it makes you who you are so it's whatever.

7) How fucking cool was it that we played in the metrodome!? I totes forgot about that, that was epic.

Damn dude that was what, like almost two years ago now? I can't believe we did that. Looking back, it's so weird that I played sports in high school. Let alone playing at the fucking Metrodome with you. I'm glad we shared that experience together.

8) If you were stuck on an island with only soulja boy or lil wayne. Who could you live with for longer before committing suicide?

Lil Wayne, because I find him somewhat entertaining. Does Soulja Boy even have more than one song?

9) If you were in Arizona Ice Tea headquarters, and they said you could have one can of any falvor, what flavor would you choose?

The original lemon iced tea, duh.

10) In five years where does Kevin Horn see himself?

Shit, I'll be 25. I will be done with college, not working at Davanni's anymore, and hopefully shooting bigger projects. Okay, you've known me for like 6 years. I don't think I've changed since then and I don't plan to change when i'm 25. I'll be doing the same shit, with the same people, having just as much fun as ever.

11) Okay, time to give shout outs if you got’em, and give a little ending statement if you want.

Well of course I gotta give a shout out to my man Sig for conducting this interview, and being my wing man for 6 solid years. I also gotta give shouts to Basti, Peter, and Jeremy, and the whole New Flavors crew for that matter. Love you guys. Thanks to everyone who's put up with me and skated in front of my camera.
Ending statement, eh?
I told myself that 2009 was going to be the best year of my life, and so far there has not been one moment where this statement did not hold true.

So to get to the bottom of the issue, here is a photo of my minnesota skate family. Minnesota is different skating in cause there are so many awesome people, and you don't even need to be good, cause everyone is just fun to be with. the first thing im doing when im getting home is late night cruising with these mother fuckers, and having the time of my life.

As a end note, elaboration on some of kevin's anwsers. first, YES basti would totally be the girl of the group, thats soo hilarious. Metal Gear Solid is fun because of its plot progression, yeah i know im a nerd for saying that. Kevin Horn, you are truly a g.

Well, its time to go america remember to stay fla fla fla fly-ahi.
Also listen to The King of Carrot Flowers parts 1, 2 and 3. its truly a song that deserved three parts. MAD LOVE TO MINNESOTA

Gotta do it for the ladies, and i gotta keep it hood

Well I've learned how to make computers do things. mainly simple math and display the output of some words. To the left is a picture of one of my programs. It displays the first verse from "twilight" by the electric light orchestra. theres also a very immature math equation. I also created a very crappy copyright infringed version of space invaders with my buddy daniel. most stressing 3 hours of my life.

So it turns out that most people on campus have a hookah, if not multiple hookahi, anyway, theres always like 5 people posted up outside my dorm. but this one was the only one with a sombrero that the person currently smoking had to wear. so yeah, theres always a group of people crowded around them, you meet like 20 people there that you will prolly never come into contact with again.

So just as i was in minnesota, i am still hyped on thrift stores, and az has some ill ones. Picked up this little number from buffalo exchange. its like savers, but they buy all their stuff so its usually all really good super trendy stuff, so im hyped on it. I've gotten a lot of shit for this shirt though. its a division championship shirt from 1993, and apparently that year they went on to get slaughtered by mj and the bulls. So all the other trendy people are hyped on it, but any person who actually knows about az sports will immediately bitch me out

So yeah, Everyone should listen to the album "time" by elo, more specifically the song "twilight" its most definitely a good listen.
Also america remember to put on for your city.

popping this blogging shits cherry

So hi all, this is sig coming to you out of the AZ, moved out here, having a fairly harsh time. So things that have happened since i moved here, well to start off, ive been getting pretty buck on a skateboard errryday. but okay, last night me and some homies were making wizard staffs, we were getting pretty buck. there was a party down the hallway from my friends apartment, so we tried to hit it up after we all had a suitable spell casting device, but the mother fucking jocks kicked us out. they were getting pretty "swoll" and were ready to "flex" on our skinny white skateboarders asses. but they bitched out, but still not cool, kicked us out of a party, had no reason

So I did it, i found the holy grail of fast food, fucking del taco. quite possibly the gnarliest fast food place on the earth. i went there at like 1 with my buddy danny (in the picture), and the place was packed with stoned college students with their questionably legal aged high school girl friends it was awesome.

So on friday it was manny mania, it was at first fridays, so the audience for this event either had a bunch of ironic tattoos and riding a fixie, or passed out hobos. but any who, i realized how distant i was from the skate community in arizona at this point in time. also as an interesting side note, i got here in the bed of a pickup truck, it was fun as shit to sit in the flat bed of a pick up truck while its on the freeway.

So to end this everyone listen to the song: "the old days" by dr dog.
And America, remember, turn your swag on
